Stephen J. Collier People

Stephen Collier is an Assistant Professor at The New School in the Program in International Affairs. His work has examined urbanism, welfare, and biopolitics in post-Soviet Russia and post-Soviet Georgia. His home page is here. Collier is currently engaged in a number of projects, including a collaboration on Vital Systems Security with Andrew Lakoff and a broader project on the contemporary biopolitics of security with Lakoff and Paul Rabinow. The project on vital systems security examines how the vital systems of modern urban and industrial society came to be seen as vulnerabilities that would have to be mitigated by the state.
